Merry Joy S. Cayatoc Anderson, DVM

Executive director

Dr. Anderson is a dual-licensed veterinarian in the Philippines and the United States, and a visionary co-founder of The DVM Academy. With a mission rooted in excellence and global impact, she is dedicated to guiding international veterinarians toward achieving success in the Clinical Proficiency Examination (CPE) and advancing their careers in North America.

Her teaching philosophy blends precision, real CPE experience, and a deeply personalized approach—empowering each student with confidence, competence, and clarity. With a particular passion for anesthesia, Dr. Anderson emphasizes critical thinking, patient safety, and mastery of essential clinical skills.

Beyond the academy, Dr. Anderson leads a life grounded in purpose and balance. She finds inspiration in her farm, where she spends time with her family and her beloved animals, including her dog Maria and horse Denali and cats, Bingo, and Simba. She also enjoys traveling around the world, meeting people and sharing her journey through vlogging—connecting with a wider audience and inspiring others along the way.

Paul M. Anderson

Administrative Director

Paul plays a vital role in ensuring operational excellence and cultivating a welcoming, student-centered environment. He earned his degree in Management and Communications from Metropolitan State University in Minnesota, equipping him with the strategic and interpersonal skills essential for effective team leadership and streamlined business operations. His professional background includes over a decade of experience in customer service, where he developed a reputation for thoughtful problem-solving, clear communication, and a genuine commitment to supporting others.

Outside of his professional role, Paul enjoys spending quality time with his family and dogs, attending church, following Minnesota sports, and traveling. His values of integrity, service, and community are reflected in both his work and personal life.

Aline Foss, DVM (Small Animal Medicine & Radiology instructor).

Dr. Foss is a Brazilian-trained. She is passionate about small animal medicine and dedicated to providing high-quality, compassionate care. Her professional interests center on improving the health and well-being of animals while continuing to grow through hands-on experience and ongoing learning. Outside of work, she enjoys traveling to new places and spending quality time with her husband and their pets.

Our Story

Message From The Owner

In 2017, I submitted my ECFVG application, however, I did not proceed with STEP 2 until I moved to the US. It took me about 3 years until I finally completed my ECFVG certification in early 2024. During those years of preparation it wasn't easy. Moving to a different country far away from everything that I was accustomed to, away from loved ones, life during the pandemic, getting married, having a kid, winter weather, anxiety, imposter syndrome and depression. These are all overwhelming. But guess what? I passed my CPE on my first attempt! Now, I felt a calling from the Almighty God to help others fulfill their American dream.

If you are a foreign veterinary graduate you must already know how scary and challenging the CPE can be if you do not have proper practical training and a dedicated mentor. Everyone needs training for the CPE, even if you think you are smart enough, that is not enough. You need to be prepared. You need a mentor.

If you are really determined to achieve your North American veterinary licensing, let me tell you these 3 golden rules I learned from completing this journey; 1. You need a huge amount of determination; 2. You need to know your priorities; and 3. removing the words "I quit" from your vocabulary. If you follow these 3 golden rules YOU WILL BE A LICENSED VETERINARIAN IN NORTH AMERICA!

Yes! This is not going to be easy, but as a foreign veterinary graduate like you I have heard your calls for help. I completely understand you.
